Teaser Tuesday

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:
  • Grab your current read.
Let the book fall open to a random page.
Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given
    !
    Please avoid spoilers!

"My mother always said that he was a frustrated lawyer. I think she meant executioner. Anything could set him off. He was never not in high dudgeon. We always had to be on our toes. Speaking of toes, he was paranoid about our damaging them in the shop. 'The toe is just a tomato with a bone in it', he'd say, warning us angrily not to drop heavy objects on those fragile digits."

(from Twisted Head: An Italian-American Memoir by Carl Capotorto, page 62.)

Ouch! From now on, I'll probably think of tomatoes every time I stub my toe. Good teasers!

Oh! I like this teaser. The bit about the tomato has me intrigued. Going to put this one on my list. Thanks!

Wow, that was visceral. In a good way. :)

Nice blog you have here! Here is my teaser from Jonathan Livingston Seagull:

"Overcome space and all you have is here, overcome time and all you have is now. And don't you think between here and now we might see each other once and awhile?"

Your book sounds really interesting. And I love the name of your blog :) Right now I'm finishing up a 1963 nonfiction book called Never Cry Wolf by Farley Mowat. It's good.
