Poe Fridays (on Saturday)
This week's selection is Why the Little Frenchman Wears His Hand in a Sling - whew, it's exhausting just typing that out! (Click on the title for a link to full text.)
Honestly, I can't even take a stab at reviewing this story, because it was almost incomprehensible to me. I think it revolves around an Irishman who is poking fun at a Frenchman, but Poe's use of dialect completely flummoxed me. I felt like I was reading in another language. I admit I don't read dialects well - often I get frustrated, and give up too soon. But this was in a class by itself, and I was not able to find anything entertaining about it.
Next week we will read the poem, To One in Paradise. Poe Fridays is hosted by Kristen at WeBeReading.

Uff da. This is too much work - I didn't even try to read the whole thing! Very un-Poe.
I'm sorry you couldn't get through this one ... it was difficult but worth it! Well, next week we get a nice mopey poem again. ;)
Mom - I know. It just didn't feel like Poe at all.
Kristen - well, dialect is one of my biggest challenges. For some reason, reading it just completely throws me.
