Teaser Tuesday

TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:
  • Grab your current read.
Let the book fall open to a random page.
Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given
    !
    Please avoid spoilers!

"I imagined the sea expanding and contracting as I breathed, a giant presence from which I could never escape. This was what it was like to live in the shadow of ocean. It was the same as the shadow of loss. It would never rest."

(Canvey Island by James Runcie, page 68)

  9. Such poignancy in so few words; honestly, I had to check to see that it didn't come from 'Astrid and Veronika' it so closely resembles a scene from that book.

Sounds like a rich and rewarding read...
